1. What's new in v2.0
-----------------------

- VESA Media Channel compliant software interface
- Works with 64-bit GrafixStar range
- Improved TV tuning and saving TV settings
- Tuner audio muting when TV video is not displayed

2. Hints and tips for using Captivator Pro/TV
---------------------------------------------

If you are using a GrafixStar card, then always use the VFW runtime DCI
version that is supplied with GrafixStar. If the Micorsoft VFW Full-
version (includes VIDCAP and VIDEDIT) is installed, you can re-install
VFW DCI using the icon in the GrafixStar group.

To show or hide the title bar of the Captivator Pro/TV Video Window,
double click in the video area. When the title bar is hidden, you move the
window by clicking in the video area and dragging the window.

When running the Captivator Pro/TV Video Window application, you can
change channels without using the tuner dialog by pressing number keys: 1
for channel 1, 2 for channel 2, etc.

When capturing VFW movies, use the Video Format that matches the current
display mode. For example, use 16-bit 565 DIB when in 65k color display
mode and 24-bit DIB when in 16.7M color display mode. If you set a
different Video Format (such as 15-bit 555 DIB when in a 256 color display
mode) then you will NOT get better image quality. The CPU will also have
to translate the format and so the capture frame rate will be lower.

3. Installing multiple Captivator Pro/TV cards
----------------------------------------------

You can install up to four Captivator Pro/TV cards in your system if you
have enough I/O and IRQ space available.

**************************************************************************
* To install another VMC card, you will need a VMC cable with three or *
* more connectors. These cables are available from VideoLogic. To order *
* your cable, please contact one of our customer support groups at 415 *
* 875 0606 from the USA, Canada or South America, or at +44 1923 271 300 *
* from elsewhere.                                                        *
**************************************************************************

Assuming you have already installed one or more VMC option card(s), to
install an additional Captivator Pro/TV follow the steps below:

(1) Leave the existing card(s) in your system. This prevents the new card
taking the I/O addresses of these cards when I/O scanning is performed.

(2) Re-run the Captivator Pro/TV setup program and select Custom option.

Setup detects that you already have cards installed and asks if you
want to add a new one.

(3) Select the New option and follow the instructions given.

Setup recommends a suitable jumper setting for the base address jumper
    on the card; copies the necessary software; creates new program icons;
and then prompts you to exit Windows.

(4) Exit Windows and switch off your computer.

(5) Install the new Captivator Pro/TV card in a slot next to one of your
    VMC enabled cards.

(6) Use your new VMC cable to connect the cards.

If your VMC cable has more connectors than you have VMC cards, you must
connect the cards using sequential connectors. That is, if you have
three cards and a cable with four connectors, you can use connectors
1,2,3 or 2,3,4; you must NOT use a combination like 1,3,4 or 1,2,4.

If you are using 928/MPEG Player (928Movie with a daughter card MPEG
Player), you must connect this card at one end of the VMC chain
(although not necessarily to the last connector on the cable - you can
ignore this connector if it is not used). All VMC cables with more than
two connectors have a nick in the cable between each connector; this
nick is on alternate sides of the cable and is used during the hardware
sensing that enables your graphics card to identify the other VMC
option cards. Make sure that the section of cable between the 928/MPEG
Player and the next VMC option card has the nick on the edge of the
cable that points towards the front of your computer.

4. Using multiple Captivator Pro/TV cards
-----------------------------------------

Video control and Video Window
------------------------------
The Captivator Pro/TV setup program creates a new Video control panel and
new Video Window icons for the additional cards. For example, if you install
a second card, its Video control panel icon will be called: "Captivator Pro
/TV-2 Video" and its Video Window icon will be "Captivator Pro/TV-2 Video
Window".

The command lines for the Video control and the Video Window icons are:
VLPOWER\CPLAPP.EXE "CaptivatorPro/TV" <n>
VLPOWER\VWINAPP.EXE "CaptivatorPro/TV" <n>
Where the number <n> indicates the board number 1 (board 2) to 3 (board 4)
and VLPOWER is the directory where you installed the Captivator Pro/TV
files.

TV Snap
-------
To switch cards in TV Snap, select one of the multiple MSVIDEO entries in
the OPTIONS menu. This will open the capture driver for the corresponding
board.

The installer creates multiple MSVIDEO entries in the Windows SYSTEM.INI
[Drivers] section for each of the cards. The entries created depend on
whether MSVIDEO entries already exist for other capture drivers. Assuming
no other capture drivers, the following entries for up to four cards, will
be created:
MSVIDEO  = VLPOWER\tgcapdrv.drv CaptivatorPro/TV 0
MSVIDEO1 = VLPOWER\tgcapdrv.drv CaptivatorPro/TV 1
MSVIDEO2 = VLPOWER\tgcapdrv.drv CaptivatorPro/TV 2
MSVIDEO3 = VLPOWER\tgcapdrv.drv CaptivatorPro/TV 3

Using VidCap
------------
To create a VidCap icon for boards that do not use the default MSVIDEO
entry, create an icon with a command line as follows:
VFW\VIDCAP.EXE -d<n>
Where <n> is the number of the MSVIDEO entry (e.g. 1 for MSVIDEO1) for the
board as described above.

5. Removing the software
------------------------

Use the Remove button in the Control Panel Drivers list for [MCI]
VideoLogic Captivator Pro/TV 2.0.
Delete these files from the Windows \SYSTEM subdirectory:
	VLPROCS.DRV
	PCDLIB.DLL
	ACCUSOFT.DLL

Delete these files from the Windows directory:
	CAPSNAP.INI
	TUNER.INI (For TV option only)

Delete these files from the Windows directory only if MPEG Player (or
other VMC option card) is NOT installed:
	VDI.INI
	SCANSTAT.INI

Delete these files from the \VLPOWER directory (or wherever you installed
MPEG Player):

	CPREADME.TXT
	CPINST.EXE
	VDITV.EXE	(GrafixStar range only)
	CPLAPP.EXE
	VWINAPP.EXE
	TGCAPDRV.DRV
	TUNER.DLL
	TIGVSNAP.EXE
	TUNDRV.DRV	(GrafixStar range only)
	DMSD7110.DRV	(GrafixStar range only)
	TUNER.INX
	TUNER.HLP
	NIAGCFG.HLP
	VDIMCI.HLP
	V16CODEC.DRV
	CAPSNAP.HLP
	VDINIAG.HLP
	VLPPISR.DLL
	VLVIDCTL.DLL
	VDIMCI.DRV

Only delete these files if MPEG Player (or other VMC option card) is NOT
installed:
	VLPPAPI.DLL
VDI.DLL (928Movie and PCI Movie only)
	PSTREAM.DRV	(GrafixStar range only)
	VDIVMC.DLL	(GrafixStar range only)

For GrafixStar cards, put in the VMC Controller Setup floppy, run the
GrafixStar or VMC Controller Setup in the GrafixStar group and select
the Remove option provided. This will give a choice of modules to be
removed, so select VMC Controller only.
